Geotechnical Engineer

Avesoro is a leading gold mining company committed to innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence. We are seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Liberia, West Africa. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring slope stability, geotechnical analysis, and data management within our open-pit mining operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Geotechnical Data Collection: Conduct core logging, field mapping, and geotechnical data acquisition in open-pit mining environments.
• Instrumentation & Data Analysis: Perform downhole geotechnical and hydrogeological instrumentation, process collected data, and review findings for decision-making.
• Laboratory & Field Testing: Prepare laboratory samples and conduct necessary field tests to assess rock and soil properties.
• Slope Stability Analysis: Support open-pit and waste dump slope design studies, conduct limit equilibrium stability assessments using geotechnical software.
• Monitoring & Evaluation: Process and evaluate slope monitoring data from prisms, inclinometers, and piezometers to ensure pit stability.
• Reporting & Presentation: Prepare detailed geotechnical reports and presentations for internal teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Geological Engineering or a related field.
• Experience: 0 – 3 years of hands-on geotechnical experience, preferably in an active open-pit mining operation.
• Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of rock mechanics and rock mass classification systems. Proficiency in MS Office applications and geotechnical software packages. Experience in slope stability analysis and limit equilibrium modeling.
• Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication in English (preferred). Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented and diverse environment.
• Additional Requirements: Valid driver's license and ability to operate vehicles in remote areas. Willingness to work in challenging field environments, including international assignments.
