Senior DevOps Engineer (Contractor)

Position Overview

We are seeking a versatile and highly skilled professional to drive our infrastructure and operational excellence across multiple domains. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain our hybrid cloud and on-premise systems while ensuring high reliability, scalability, and performance. This multifaceted position combines the responsibilities of DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure Engineering, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) with a strong focus on automation, security, and service design.

• Location: GSK Plaza Mansuroğlu Mahallesi Bayraklı/İZMİR (Hybrid working model)
• Contract Duration: 2-year contract (Contractor)
• Compensation: Salary paid in USD through our Cyprus-based company with an 80% tax exemption benefit
• Working Hours: 45-50 hours per week

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Development & Management

• Cloud & On-Premise Solutions: Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure infrastructure utilizing AWS, Azure, and on-premise environments.
• Containerization & Orchestration: Develop and deploy applications within Docker containers and manage orchestration using Kubernetes or Docker Swarm.
• Infrastructure as Code: Automate provisioning and configuration using Terraform.

CI/CD & Automation

• Pipeline Management: Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
• Scripting & Automation: Develop automation scripts in Python, PHP, or Node.js to streamline deployments and operations.

Database Management

• Architectural Design: Design and manage master-slave architectures with multiple read replicas for PostgreSQL, MariaDB, and MySQL.
• Optimization & Availability: Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and data integrity through clustering, replication strategies, performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization.

Messaging Systems

• RabbitMQ: Implement and manage RabbitMQ clusters, including configuring exchange types, queues, bindings, and routing keys.
• Kafka: Deploy and manage Kafka clusters to support high-volume event streaming and robust message processing.
• Resilience: Configure load balancing and failover mechanisms across messaging infrastructures.

Caching & Search Solutions

• Caching: Optimize application performance using Redis for caching, session management, and message brokering; manage Redis Sentinel and Cluster configurations.
• Search Functionality: Integrate and maintain search systems using OpenSearch and Apache Solr for advanced search, distributed indexing, and query optimization.

Process Management & Load Balancing

• Application Monitoring: Utilize FPM/PM2 for process management, including monitoring, clustering, and zero-downtime reloads.
• Load Balancing: Configure and maintain HAProxy and NGINX for load balancing, reverse proxying, SSL termination, and caching to ensure high availability and zero-downtime deployments.

Service Design & Performance Optimization

• Service Architecture: Architect and develop scalable, reliable backend services using modular-monolith, microservices, or event-driven designs.
• API Development: Design and implement GraphQL and RESTful APIs with robust authentication methods such as OAuth, JWT, and API key management.
• Optimization: Identify system bottlenecks, perform load testing, and execute capacity planning to ensure optimal performance at both application and infrastructure levels.

Networking & Security

• Advanced Networking: Implement subnetting, routing, VPNs, load balancers, and firewall configurations.
• Security Practices: Apply security best practices, including SSL/TLS, encryption, intrusion detection/prevention, and adherence to OWASP and GDPR standards.
• Cloudflare Integration: Configure Cloudflare for DNS management, CDN, WAF, caching, and object storage (Cloudflare R2) along with DDoS protection and SSL/TLS optimization.

SRE & Operational Excellence

• Monitoring & Incident Management: Establish comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting using Prometheus, Grafana, and the LOKI stack.
• Distributed Tracing: Implement distributed tracing using OpenTelemetry and Jaeger to analyze system performance and latency.
• Continuous Improvement: Lead incident management processes, perform root cause analysis, and drive continuous operational improvements.

Collaboration & Documentation

• Teamwork: Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration, deployment, and operational efficiency.
• Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation for architectures, processes, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.

Required Skills & Experience

Educational Background & Experience

• Degree: Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years in DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Infrastructure Engineering with a focus on scalable systems.

Cloud & Infrastructure

• Proven experience managing AWS, Azure, and hybrid on-premise environments.
• Hands-on expertise with Docker, Kubernetes (or Docker Swarm), and Terraform.

Programming & Scripting

• Proficiency/Familiarity in Python, PHP, and Node.js, including asynchronous programming, event-driven architecture, and performance tuning.
• Deep understanding of Linux OS, shell scripting, and system administration.

Database & Messaging

• Extensive experience with PostgreSQL, MariaDB/MySQL, including master-slave architectures, read replicas, clustering, and replication.
• Hands-on experience with RabbitMQ and Kafka clusters for robust messaging systems.

Caching, Search & Process Management

• Skilled in implementing Redis for caching, session management, and as a message broker.
• Proficient in managing OpenSearch / Apache Solr clusters for distributed search and indexing.
• Expertise in using PM2 for application monitoring, clustering, and ensuring zero-downtime deployments.

Networking, Security & Cloud Services

• Strong background in configuring HAProxy, NGINX, and advanced networking protocols.
• Experience implementing security measures (SSL/TLS, VPNs, firewalls) and performing security audits.
• Proficient in configuring Cloudflare services for DNS, CDN, WAF, and DDoS protection.

CI/CD & Version Control

• Advanced knowledge of Git workflows, branching strategies, and repository management.
• Proven experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI.
