System Engineer

The Role

As System Engineer you will drive aerospace weapon development and system engineering activities for our customers platforms. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the end-to-end integration of a diverse range of weapon systems across multiple domains, ensuring seamless functionality with the core mission and avionics systems. You will act as technical authority for weapon integration, providing guidance and mentorship to a dedicated team of engineers, and driving the successful delivery of this critical capability.

The day-to-day

  • Lead the overall weapon integration programme across all relevant domains, ensuring a coherent and fully functional system-of-systems.
  • Perform and oversee the detailed integration of weapons with the aircraft’s mission system and avionics architecture, including mechanical interfaces.
  • Develop and manage the weapon integration roadmap, from concept definition through to flight testing and final qualification.
  • Liaise with internal design teams, including structures, aerodynamics, and systems engineering, to manage the physical and functional integration of weapon systems.
  • Author technical specifications, interface control documents (ICDs), and statements of work for suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Provide technical mentorship to engineers within the team.
  • Oversee the verification and validation strategy.

Your Profile

  • B.Sc., M.Sc. or PhD in Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in System Engineering within the aerospace or defence industry.
  • Experience with weapon system integration, aircraft stores management systems, or avionics integration is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of system engineering processes including requirements management, system architecture, and verification planning.
  • Experience using engineering tools such as:
  • IBM DOORS or similar requirements management tools
  • Modeling and simulation tools (e.g., AMESIM, MATLAB/Simulink or equivalent)
  • Familiarity with aerospace environmental and military standards including:
  • MIL-STD-2088B – Aircraft Stores Suspension Equipment
  • MIL-STD-2131A – Aircraft Stores Release Equipment and Associated Interfaces
  • MIL-STD-810 – Environmental Engineering Considerations and Laboratory Tests
  • RTCA DO-160 – Environmental Conditions and Test Procedures for Airborne Equipment
  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary engineering environments and complex system-of-systems architectures.
  • Excellent technical communication and presentation skills with the ability to interact effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and programme stakeholders.
  • Fluent English (written and spoken) is essential.
