Broadcast Technician

Spalk is recruiting for a Broadcast Technician for full-time work from home.

The purpose of the role is to work with a team of technicians (all remote) in delivering live sports broadcasts via Spalk's Virtual Commentary Studio. Spalk's system allows sports commentators to commentate from home, and the Broadcast Technician's role is to supervise delivery and ensure it is a successful broadcast.

Key Tasks:

1. Use Spalk's Web Dashboard to monitor commentator audio & video.
2. Communicate with commentators, sports broadcasters & other people involved in the production workflow.
3. Follow guidelines to diagnose and resolve issues like commentator connectivity and sound quality.
4. Communicate with commentators and clients via tools like Slack and WhatsApp.

The candidate should have an interest in sports, TV and media, and prior experience in live sports productions.

Fluent written and spoken English communication is a must.

A strong understanding of streaming protocols & terminology is vital. You need to understand terms like SRT, CBR, Packet Loss & Hitless Switching.

We are looking for someone who is knowledgeable, sharp, agile, and comfortable with the stresses of live sports.

You need to have access to a reasonable laptop/desktop with a reliable internet connection and possess a calm, customer-service focused demeanor.

Anyone with a broadcast background or an equivalent media technology graduate or similar experience would be suitable for this role.

Please note that the days of work are from Thursday to Monday each week, covering our busy period of support over the weekend.

About Spalk:

Spalk's Virtual Commentary Studio is used by leading broadcasters around the world to produce remote World Feed and Multilingual Commentary for live sports broadcasts.

Pay: The annual salary will be between US$20,000 - US$25,000 (715,000 - 900,000 Turkish Lira). This will be paid monthly as a Contractor. Other expenses such as Internet Connection & Computer will be provided.

Visa: You must be legally able to work in the country you are based in.

Hours: 40 hours per week, from Thursday to Monday.
