FUNCTION INTRODUCTION

The Ice Cream R&D team embraces agile innovation and is fully connected to countries and markets to land global, regional, and local projects in the markets. Unilever's Ice cream business in the MET region is large and highly successful. The business reaches across all Ice Cream experiences in two broad platforms: Desserts – familiar in-home tubs, pints, and mono portions as well as scooping Out of Home, and Impulse – global and local classics and kid's favorites, and the regional Ice Cream R&D team design reflects this.

WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE

  1. To be the processing expert responsible for developing, capturing & sharing of process methods, parameters & plant know how across the business.
  2. To develop, install, commission and maintain the Pilot Plant & associated equipment used by the team to develop world class product and process designs in a manner consistent with local and Unilever SHE requirements.
  3. Coordinate the design, development and commissioning of world class factory processes for the manufacture of innovations (both in house & third party).
  4. Identify improvements and changes in pilot plant that will increase pilot plant's capacity to handle new innovation and technologies.
  5. Ensure the effective introduction of a portfolio of new manufacturing processes to Unilever plants (in-house & 3rd Party) via trials and other technical studies with minimal supervision. These can vary in complexity and scale.
  6. Ensure the timely and effective communication & resolution of issues affecting process scale-up.
  7. Ensuring the safe & effective design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of pilot plant facilities and other tools used to deliver world class innovation in budget. This includes the procurement of funds from senior management.
  8. Generation & dissemination of process expertise on Unilever plants and their interaction with current & future products through both formal & informal activities including technical workshops, troubleshooting teams, participation in global networks.
  9. Support the generation of costs / benefit analysis for improvements based on modelling.
