About this Role:

The PD and Production Coordinator is a crucial role at Urban Outfitters, Inc., requiring a unique blend of creativity, analytical skills, and technical expertise. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for translating design visions into reality, managing timelines, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Manager to develop and execute category calendars, ensuring timely completion of projects and meeting established deadlines
  • Participate in Trend meetings to gain insights into design intentions and tones for upcoming seasons, collaborating with the Manager to create strategic outlines based on these insights
  • Conduct thorough analyses of merchant line plans, identifying areas for improvement and communicating expectations to the team
  • Drive adoption rates and ensure alignment with approved line plan style counts, measured by seasonal line plan actualization
  • Develop and execute strategies aligned with design visions, business needs, and historical data, including resource allocation and blueprints for Sample Rooms and Allocation Plans
  • Oversee all pre-style development activities, including pre-costing, fabric selection, washing, mock-ups, draping, tailoring, trims, and printing
  • Attend Sketch Review meetings to clarify style aspects and strategize on delivering design visions within budget constraints
  • Present pre-style and style developments to Business Directors, highlighting opportunities for corporate fabrics during Final Allocation reviews
  • Lead teams in delivering visually appealing samples that meet design standards
  • Manage development, tracking, and sample management, as well as fabric information such as minimums and lead times
  • Attend Intent to Buy meetings to determine which styles will be purchased, communicate costing and minimums based on collaboration with Product Design and Technical Development teams
  • Calculate and manage style-out IMUs, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting
  • Collaborate with teams and Business Directors to provide final allocations to merchants after Intent to Buy communications, updating restyles, costing, or delivery changes as needed
  • Transfer responsibility for in-progress styles from front-end to back-end during PD handovers, including IMU rolls, development, status, and production concerns

Requirements:

  • Five (5) or more years of experience in an apparel product development role with strong knowledge of garment construction, global raw material procurement, and manufacturing
  • Strong knowledge base in raw materials and wash techniques
  • Extensive experience with TradeStone or other PLM systems, strong skills with Microsoft Excel a must
  • Must be deadline-driven and have a proactive and creative approach to problem-solving
  • Must have strong communication, organization, and follow-up skills
  • Bachelor's degree in textiles, fashion, business, or related field preferred
