Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Procurement Specialist to join our team at UNICEF. As a Procurement Specialist, you will be responsible for managing the supply chains of the Istanbul Common Services Center, including planning, procurement, contracting, customs clearance, warehousing, in-country transport, and distribution.

You will support management collaboration with HQ divisions/offices and ECARO in Istanbul in defining supply interventions to meet organizational needs and achieve results for children.

In this role, you will work closely with the Chief, Business Strategy and Operations to ensure the effective use of financial and material resources.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Supply Chain Service Delivery and Emergency Response
    • Provide input to the UNICEF Global Office in Istanbul Action Planning and advice on Supply requirements for the Plan of Operations and Annual Work Plans.
    • Ensure appropriate planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the supply chain operations.
    • Analyze supply spend and develop procurement strategies based on category management.
    • Ensure effective procurement of goods, contracting of services, and construction works.
  2. Collaboration with HQ Divisions, ECARO, and UN Agencies/Partners
    • Develop close collaboration with HQ divisions through involvement in planning and preparation for implementation of supply components.
    • Establish accountability framework with divisions and ECARO for delivery of results for children.
  3. Technical and Advisory Support to Government/National Systems
    • Promote supply chain strengthening and change management initiatives with governments and partners.
    • Provide input to capacity development initiatives in the area of supply chains for children.
Requirements
  • An advanced university degree in Business Administration, Management, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, Contract/Commercial Law, International Development, Health, or a related social science field.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience in supply, logistics, procurement, contracting, administration, or other directly related technical fields.
  • Understanding of development and humanitarian work.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language or local language is an asset.
