To build up and grow our Tech Hub in Istanbul, we are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer who will be part of a highly competent team in close collaboration with our Berlin teams.

Your Role

As a Senior Backend Engineer in the Booking team at our Tech Hub in vibrant Istanbul, you will play an instrumental role in driving the cultivation of a robust engineering culture in Istanbul. Your main responsibility will be to develop and maintain the booking system, which processes customer requests for various transport services.

  • You will drive automation efforts to eliminate manual work in logistics, enabling our employees to focus on meaningful tasks.
  • You will take ownership of the entire software development cycle, designing, building, and maintaining highly scalable and robust solutions.
  • You will explore and implement cutting-edge software design patterns to tackle complex challenges within the ever-evolving domain of logistics.
  • You will engage in various challenges, such as leading engineering-wide initiatives, collaborating with different teams and stakeholders, and documenting concise RFCs and ADRs.

Qualifications

  • Problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in backend technologies, including NodeJS, JavaScript, TypeScript, MongoDB, message queuing systems, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with multiple databases, both relational and non-relational, and the ability to choose and apply the appropriate database paradigm based on specific use cases.
  • Familiarity with cloud providers is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience in developing distributed backend applications to address complex challenges such as data consistency, quality, latency, and availability.
  • Proficiency in using industry best practices in software development, including testing, code reviews, maintaining documentation, and following coding guidelines.
  • Experience in Agile development practices and the ability to adapt quickly to changing requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
