Chemical and HSE Engineer

Job Description:

We are seeking a Chemical & HSE engineer to join UNES Technical Services Department. UNES carries out the operation and maintenance activities of Yeni Elektrik Üretim A.Ş CCGT located in Çerkeşli, Dilovası, Kocaeli province with a total capacity of 865 MW. A significant amount of the Technical Services department's time is dedicated to the overall support of plant operations, particularly identifying and recommending improvements to plant performance in various areas, including technical, safety, and environmental. In this context, we are seeking a teammate who can lead problem-solving and process improvement projects and work with the operation and maintenance team.

Job Description and Responsibilities:

1. Contribute to the development of appropriate chemical standards and operating procedures for chemical control of the steam and water cycle.
2. Conduct necessary analyses and controls in the laboratory.
3. Assist the Chemical and HSE Administrator in the procurement, storage, and condition monitoring of all chemicals.
4. Prepare expected reports and make presentations on chemistry & HSE issues.
5. Assist the Chemical and HSE Administrator with all operation-maintenance activities on water treatment and water-steam cycle processes.
6. Provide training to operation technicians about Chemistry and HSE issues as needed.
7. Contribute to the development of compliance with station Occupational Health and Safety Programs.
8. Assist the Chemical and HSE Administrator with waste management.
9. Collaborate with other departments for various projects as required.
10. Report to the Chemical and HSE Administrator.

Required / Intended Skills

1. A recognized degree in Chemical Engineering.
2. Preferably 1-2 years of experience in a steam power plant or similar process industry using steam and water cycles.
3. Having an Occupational Health and Safety Expert License (preferable).
4. Knowledge of Environmental Management Systems.
5. Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs.
6. Good command of written and spoken English would be advantageous.
7. Strong communication skills and a team player.
8. Ability to work flexible hours.
9. Completed military service for male candidates.
10. Knowledge of ISO14001-50001-45001-9001 standards (preferable).
