Data Center Logistics Specialist, InfraOps

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we're looking for talented people who want to help.

You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you'll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

We are looking for a Logistics Specialist to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team. Logistics Specialists review Data Center inventory, in-bound shipments, and ongoing demand to ensure that proper stock levels are maintained in all locations to support build and repair activities.

If you would like to learn how to ensure overall availability and reliability of logistics to meet or exceed defined service levels of data center operations, we'd like to meet you. Your work will ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels of data center operations by being a part of operating the world's largest cloud computing infrastructure.

Key job responsibilities
  1. Logistics Specialists are expected to understand all aspects of production, adhere to strict safety standards, maintain very high quality, and be willing and able to work on powered equipment (i.e., forklift or cherry picker).
  2. Working with the Logistics Manager, create plans to optimize the flow of parts through their lifecycle; tracking inventory location, movement, age, and turns.
  3. Work closely with Data Center Operations Technicians and Data Center Engineers to fulfill parts quickly and accurately.
  4. Work with Procurement and Hardware Engineering to purchase new parts and interface directly with vendors to process RMAs and receive replacements.
  5. Regular and ongoing communications with vendors to resolve issues and help them understand our business requirements necessitates a high-level communicator.
  6. Support an environment that operates 24/7.
A day in the life
  1. Position works in-person at a site location.
  2. Assist in daily scheduling of deliveries and pick-ups.
  3. Adhere to safety and security protocols for the site.
  4. Assist in loading and unloading shipments.
  5. Work with and/or around moving mechanical parts.
  6. Requires standing, sitting, and walking for prolonged periods of time.
  7. Manual handling and lifting of objects may be required (weight limits in accordance with regulations).
  8. Regularly walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  9. Reach and stretch to position equipment and fixtures while maintaining balance.
