Chemonics International seeks a highly skilled and experienced Regional Education Specialist to support education programming in Northwest Syria.

About the Role

The Regional Education Specialist will work closely with the education team to design, implement, and monitor education interventions that meet the specialized learning, psychosocial, and protection needs of children living in Northwest Syria.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the Syrian education context, conflict, and security situation, as well as experience working with local actors, NGOs, and government institutions.

Main Responsibilities
  • Support the technical implementation of education interventions, focusing on literacy and numeracy, in collaboration with the education manager.
  • Maintain daily communication with activity partners, including education directorates and NGOs, to ensure effective implementation.
  • Contribute to reports on education interventions and work closely with the protection manager to integrate safeguarding and psychosocial support into education activities.
  • Collaborate with the MERL department to develop and apply monitoring and evaluation tools and plans for education interventions, incorporating feedback from the field and MEL into intervention design.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience in special education is preferred.
  • Demonstrable experience in developing and implementing different education programs to improve education quality.
  • Demonstrated experience working in child protection, including developing and implementing psychosocial training and plans.
  • Strong understanding of the context, conflict, and security situation in Syria; previous experience in Syria strongly preferred.
