Job Description

We are looking for a passionate and hands-on QA Engineer (Backend) who believes quality starts early — at design, not at release. You will take full ownership of the quality process for our core banking infrastructure, ensuring the stability of our existing monolithic systems while contributing to our modernization journey towards a microservices architecture. You will collaborate closely with developers and business analysts to ensure data integrity and flawless execution of financial transactions.

Key Responsibilities

End-to-End Ownership:

• Own the QA lifecycle for features from story grooming and requirement clarification to post-release validation.
• Clarify acceptance criteria, identify risks early and challenge assumptions proactively.
• Ensure issues are not just detected, but followed through to resolution.

Execution:

• Design, execute, and maintain functional, regression, exploratory tests for
  backend flows
  and
  web applications
  , ensuring data consistency across legacy and new modules.

Technical Contribution:

• Perform deep-dive analysis using
  complex SQL queries
  for database validation.
• Analyze server logs, and track issues in a complex architectural landscape using monitoring tools.
• Read and understand code (
  Java
  ) when debugging or verifying behavior.
• Design, deploy, and maintain
  mocking environments using WireMock
  (or similar) to decouple dependencies during testing.
• Contribute to automation initiatives and QA process improvements.

Collaboration:

• Actively participate in planning, grooming, 3 Amigos sessions, and sprint ceremonies.
• Work closely with developers, analysts and product managers to reduce ambiguity early.
• Leverage strong technical literacy in Network, Data, Security, Hosting, and DevOps domains to communicate effectively with backend-connected teams and troubleshoot infrastructure-related issues.
• Communicate risks, edge cases, and quality insights clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Continuous Improvement:

• Contribute to improving test strategies, coverage, and QA standards.
• Identify gaps in process or tooling and propose pragmatic improvements.

What We're Looking For

• Experience:
  3+ years in software QA, ideally within fintech or core banking.
• Backend & Web Expertise:
  Experience working with
  Monolithic architectures
  and a solid understanding of
  Microservices principles
  (REST/SOAP APIs, modularization).
• Technical Skills:
  Advanced proficiency in
  SQL
  (critical for validating legacy data), Experience with API testing tools (Postman, Karate, REST/SOAP automation). Knowledge of BDD methodology and related tools (Cucumber, Gherkin). Ability to write API automation scenarios using Karate or Cucumber.
• Performance Awareness:
  Familiarity with performance testing concepts (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner) to ensure system stability under load.
• Mindset:
  Strong ownership — question assumptions, challenge unclear requirements, and follow issues to completion.
• Communication:
  Excellent English, able to articulate risks and scenarios clearly.
