Job Purpose:

The Protection Project Officer will be responsible for managing the protection project and supervising the implementation of the legal activities (Awareness raising, CSD & HLP counseling, CVA for legal issues and relocation) and protection activities (Initiatives, Training, and GP activities), ensuring that project objectives, plans, documentation, and implementation are on track as per the approved timeline, budget, organization, and donor requirements. S/He will also be directly managing the day-to-day tasks of field staff and will report on the progress, emerging risks, and suggest mitigation/response measures to the line managers. In addition, field visits to Syria and project sites may be required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the protection coordinator in managing the Legal and GP project to meet its objectives within the logical framework, budget, and allotted time frame.
  • Monitor and supervise project activities continuously, and evaluate progress using outputs and impact.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of activities according to applicable timeframes and formats.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly narrative reports and submit them accordingly.
  • Assist in managing field team staff, including day-to-day management and development.
  • Manage budget and ensure that all expenses are coded appropriately and according to budget while meeting IYD standards for financial management, including accountability and good governance.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate communication with the team and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop the project implementation plan including recruitment, procurement, media, budget tracking, risk management, MEAL, etc. in coordination with concerned departments, and update it on a monthly basis.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
  • Monitor the day-to-day logistics, administration, budget forecast & follow-up.
  • Conduct field visits to Syria and project sites to closely observe and report on the progress.

Note: The above-mentioned key responsibilities/accountabilities are illustrative. Other future responsibilities/accountabilities may be assigned to the job depending on the department's organizational chart.

Qualification (Education – Work Experience):
  • A university degree in Law, psychology, social studies, humanities, or any other related field.
  • One year of experience managing protection projects such as Legal, GBV, CP, GP.
  • Advanced level in English.
  • Advanced narrative report writing skills.
  • Master's degree in Law, psychology, social studies, humanities, or any other related field (preferred).
  • Three years of experience managing protection projects such as Legal, GBV, CP, GP (preferred).
  • Excellent experience in project management (planning, implementation).
