Job Description

We are seeking an Associate Operations Officer to provide operational and analytical support to our operations in Turkiye. The successful candidate will contribute to projects preparation and implementation of activities, provide strategic analysis and briefing materials, and engage with stakeholders including the World Bank, government agencies, the private sector, and other organizations.

The position will be based in Istanbul and the AOO will report to IFC's Principal Country Officer for Turkiye. The AOO will also support the PCO with regional assignments in MCT when needed.

Roles and Responsibilities
  1. Monitor regulatory developments impacting IFC's activities and provide input on local economic and business trends relevant to IFC investment decisions and strategies.
  2. Research untapped markets to identify constraints to private sector investments in Turkiye as input to upstream market creation decisions.
  3. Support the formulation and execution of country strategies and diagnostics under the leadership of RD and in collaboration with PCO, regional teams, and economists.
  4. Contribute to partnerships with World Bank staff, prepare briefing materials, and support project development activities.
  5. Participate in missions, country review meetings, and appraisal of projects, and liaise with IFC investment teams to monitor progress and performance of projects.
  6. Maintain good working knowledge of current investment, advisory, and upstream operations in Turkiye, and support the PCO in addressing queries from HQ management and staff.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Master's degree in economics, finance, or related field.
  • At least 5-6 years of relevant experience in the MCT region, preferably in Turkiye.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the country including politics, history, social dynamics, culture, economics, local markets, and regulatory framework.
  • Ability to read and anticipate shifts in market trends and implications for IFC's current and future business.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, presentation abilities, and interpersonal skills plus fluency in Turkish and English.
