BASIC FUNCTION:

Responsible for production quality of La-Z-Boy's products sourced in Turkiye. Responsible to manage in-country QC team to perform quality inspections following La-Z-Boy statistical audit guidelines. Develops and implements key quality initiatives with suppliers to support continuous improvement processes. Identify developmental opportunities in the suppliers in Turkiye, gains and develops acceptance for implementation of Quality Management System.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the schedule of AQL audits and conduct the audits at the supplier factories.
  • Make final decision on accepting or rejecting a container shipment.
  • Prioritize and conduct weekly supplier plant audits in Turkiye on production and quality system in compliance of La-Z-Boy AQL audit procedure.
  • Manage color/finish approval processes; provide training and color testing to the supplier and auditors.
  • Develop training program for new auditors and on-going procedures for verifying auditor performance.
  • Determine auditor's permanent working base and flexible rotation schedule.
  • Work with US/UK-based quality teams to review quality rejections documented in La-Z-Boy AQL audit reports by following Quality Rejection Review Procedure; identify and implement corrective actions with suppliers as required.
  • Develop continuous improvement plans from the statistical audits and present them to La-Z-Boy Quality and Supply Chain Management teams.
  • Review and analyze statistical audit reports and provide recommendations for reduced, normal, and tightened inspection requirements.
  • Conduct 8D Corrective Action Process with suppliers to ensure accurate root cause analysis and corrective action implementation; conduct factory site verification of implementation of corrective actions; conduct 30-day, 60-day and 90-day follow-up audits on 8D implementation.
  • Participate in PPAP Reviews conducted by NPD managers during the new product launch process. Train QC team on new product and standards for production.
  • Assist in Supplier Assessment Process of the new suppliers provided by La-Z-Boy Supply Chain Team.
  • Prepare supplier quality metrics and conduct supplier quality meetings quarterly as well as required by current quality events at the receiving plants and distribution centers, to identify and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct training seminars with suppliers on developing process control plans.
  • Assist in social compliance audit and follow up the product safety policy implementation to ensure the product and supply source meet La-Z-Boy requirement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quality Management, Supply Chain, Business Management or equivalent;
  • Working knowledge of standard quality management concepts: APQP, Control Plans, SPC, FEMA, DFEMA, 8D Corrective Action, Color Management, Lean Manufacturing Systems; technical training in some/all of these concepts preferred;
  • Expertise in the production processes for some/all of the following categories: fabric, leather, upholstered furniture, casegoods, furniture components, etc.
  • Computer skills in business software – Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project;
  • Product cost structure knowledge;
  • 7-10 years of relevant experience;
  • Extensive local / regional travel is required.
