You will collaborate and support Head of Legal in advising the Turkey market/GSC/leaf entity on legal matters affecting the business. The aim is to achieve corporate and commercial objectives in a compliant manner by appropriate monitoring and management of legal risks. You will also advise on regulatory-related matters affecting the company, as well as a broad range of commercial matters, and will need to play a full part in the legal team, including advising on regulatory and competition law matters as part of that team. You will also assist the Head of Legal by concentrating on complex and/or high-value legal matters, whether complex regulatory issues, manufacturing arrangements, or disputes and litigation. On all matters, you will take direct responsibility and be the point of contact for colleagues in the market/GSC/leaf entity.

The position will be based in Izmir and report to Legal Director.

Position:

As the Legal Manager, you will also:

  • Work closely with Head of Legal in providing solution/business oriented legal advice across the full range of business activity where legal input is required
  • Provide solution/business oriented legal advice and support to ensure readiness for legalization of HTP and for launch of other new categories
  • Provide legal support for safeguarding compliance with competition law by taking an approach to the challenges with a mindset to win
  • Product Regulation:

- Drafting or supporting CA in preparation of JTI's positions on draft legislation

- Advising on product regulation, including reviewing legislation on relevant matters

- Following up legislation changes and informing the business on the same and/or ensuring company and its products comply with the regulatory regime

- Realizing all product applications required for the launch or re-launch of products

- Working in close coordination with CA to shape legal strategy and advocacy towards Ministry of Agriculture on regulatory regime or product applications

  • Providing trainings:

- Working collaboratively as part of the legal team to develop and provide training programs, precedents, guidance notes and updates

- Providing training to market/GSC in respect of competition law, tobacco products law, compliance or other areas as required

  • Litigation:

- Handling Company's litigation including administrative law and regulatory to represent Company's interest

Requirements:
  • University degree, law degree from an accredited school. Bar license is a must
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in first-class experience from a top city firm, or in-house with an FMCG company, ideally with experience in highly regulated sectors
  • Excellent command of Turkish and English
  • Advanced level of MS Office applications, proficiency in PowerPoint
  • Communication, decision-making, analysis & problem-solving, project management, interpersonal skills, relationship building, time management
