Overview Of The Department/Section

The Compliance team is responsible for fulfilment of accountabilities to ensure that the Bank has appropriate policy, procedures, controls and practices to implement and comply with financial crime and regulatory compliance related local regulatory and global standards.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE


• Fulfilling / ensuring the fulfilment of the works of the Compliance Department in full and in time, in accordance with laws and our Bank's policies and principles.

Highlights from Key Responsibilities:

  1. Carry out Compliance policy and procedure implementation or update studies in line with regulatory requirements and group standards.
  2. Fulfil the provision of Compliance advisory to the business and support units, via conducting the required studies, prepare and communicate the opinions to the related parties.
  3. Organize, plan, and conduct first or second review and investigation of alerts from transaction and name screening processes in accordance with relevant procedure and standards, escalate any positive matches and share the results with related parties.
  4. Manage conduction of pre-screening of the firms (third party service providers) and share the results with related parties.
  5. Perform necessary studies about the records to be added to lists to support efficiency of the screening system, along with preparation of relevant approval documentation.
  6. Organize, plan, and conduct first or second review of the alerts produced by the transaction monitoring system in line with relevant standards, escalate any potentially unusual or suspicious activity and support the subsequent suspicious activity reporting process by preparing any required documentation.
  7. Carry out Compliance expert support in the system or process update projects regarding Compliance systems, ensuring coordination with the IT department and relevant stakeholders.
  8. For cases requiring Compliance review, perform periodic review of the existing customers in accordance with the "know your customer" principles, to follow up and prepare relevant MI for submission to committees.
  9. Make necessary preparations for the reporting of compliance activities to the Committees.
  10. Follow the regulatory announcements on a daily basis and when necessary loading them into the bank records without delay and informing relevant parties in line with regulatory change management procedure.
  11. Manage monitoring of the Outside Business Interests and Personal Account Dealing forms and relevant processes within the bank in cooperation with HR Department.
  12. Prepare the training materials and/or deliver trainings where appropriate follow up completion reports, escalate any potential delays to relevant teams and management.
  13. Plan and perform the Core Compliance testings.
  14. Manage gathering data required to prepare all relevant MI and reports and submit as appropriate.

Work Experience

  • Solid experience with an equivalent organisation and relevant role.
  • Extensive experience managing relationships with stakeholders and Senior Management.

Skills And Experience

Functional / Technical Competencies:

  • Excellent technical knowledge for Compliance related local regulatory and international standards.
  • Clear understanding of the market and regulatory environment in which MUFG operates globally.
  • Proven ability in providing a 2LOD advisory compliance service.
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of banking products & regulatory environment.
  • Good conceptual understanding of risk, compliance and controls.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Sharp intellect with the ability to grasp complex concepts.
  • Ability to challenge independently and constructively, where appropriate in order to achieve engagement and drive resolution.
  • Ability to act autonomously when appropriate and know when to escalate matters.
  • Highly organised, goal oriented and solutions focused.

Education / Qualifications:

  • Degree Level or equivalent qualifications and experience.
