The World Health Organization is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Health Emergency Management Specialist to join its team in Geneva, Switzerland. As a key member of the organization, you will play a critical role in supporting the implementation of health emergency management systems and promoting global health security.

Job Summary

We are looking for a motivated and results-driven professional with a strong background in health emergency management, epidemiology, and public health. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, as well as experience working in international settings.

About the Role

As a Senior Health Emergency Management Specialist, you will be responsible for providing technical assistance to countries in implementing their national health emergency management capacities, including developing and strengthening health emergency preparedness and response plans. You will also work closely with WHO staff, partner organizations, and other stakeholders to ensure effective coordination and collaboration.

You will analyze data and information from various sources to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement, and develop evidence-based recommendations to enhance health emergency management capacities. Additionally, you will provide training and capacity-building programs to health professionals and officials on health emergency management and disaster risk reduction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical assistance to countries in implementing their national health emergency management capacities
  • Develop and strengthen health emergency preparedness and response plans
  • Analyze data and information to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement
  • Develop evidence-based recommendations to enhance health emergency management capacities
  • Provide training and capacity-building programs to health professionals and officials
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A first university degree in medicine, public health, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in health emergency management, epidemiology, or a related field
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Experience working in international settings and with diverse cultures
  • Fluency in English and/or French, and/or Spanish
