Overview
  • The Senior Airfreight Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of airfreight general cargo products and services, ensuring they meet the highest quality standards while remaining competitive. This role involves internal and external consulting, product development, and maintaining strong business relationships.
  • Ensuring optimal and professional customer service as well as maintenance and further development of customer relationships in the Traders area.
  • Optimization and further development of process & procedures within the Rate Procurement Team. Processing and completion of tender requests.
Responsibilities

Airfreight Product Management

  • Provide general consulting services internally and externally.
  • Develop, market, and implement new and attractive airfreight services.
  • Ensure that products adhere to quality standards and remain competitive.
  • Support and advise the Balerna branch.
  • Review, maintain, and improve airport GVA setup and promote internal processes.
  • Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for customers and service providers to ensure clear operational workflows for shipments.
  • Maintain and expand business relationships with agents.
  • Web-Cargo system maintenance.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Cost Management

  • Establish pricing strategies for airfreight products.
  • Implement airfreight sales tariffs, including company, client, and cost tariffs.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts and terms with partners and service providers.

Sales and Customer Management

  • Collaborate with sales teams to provide on-site consulting for airfreight products to customers and internally.
  • Personally manage key accounts, focusing on customer retention and acquiring new clients while nurturing long-term business relationships.
  • Handle Requests for Information (RFI) and Requests for Quotation (RFQ).
  • Provide general representative support at customer events, trade shows, and other occasions.
  • Conduct sales meetings.

Market Strategy and Analysis

  • Conduct market analyses to better understand trends and customer needs.
  • Develop and implement market strategies for product positioning.
  • Identify new business models and markets.

Compliance and Quality Management

  • Maintain the security program, including training and audits for personnel and subcontractors.
  • Administer IATA regulations, including portal management, CASS and TACT.
  • Oversee the hazardous goods program.
Qualifications
  • Finished commercial Apprenticeship in international forwarding.
  • Completed education in business administration.
  • 5 - 6 years Working experience in international forwarding.
  • Professional experience in freight forwarding in the commercial area / rate procurement.
  • Fluent oral and written English is a must.
  • Additional (major) European languages would be an asset.
  • Strong PC skills (Windows, Microsoft Office applications).
  • Negotiation skills and excellent communication skills.
  • Talent in negotiations and networking.
  • Ability to make decisions and work with numbers.
  • Accurate, expeditious and independent way of working.
  • High affinity for organizational and administrative tasks.
  • Distinct customer and service orientation.
  • Quick perception and openness for new things.
  • Flexibility and ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to work in a team.
