Position Summary

The role will be situated in Istanbul, Turkey Representative Office and reporting to the Country Manager with a requirement to travel within Middle East markets when required.

We are looking for a detailed-oriented Business Development Manager to contribute to the achievement of sales targets and successful completion of projects in a timely manner by handling sales and coordinating duties, managing all aspects of key sales projects' milestones deliveries, and preparing management progress reports for Business Development, Acceptance quality check & key projects activities in the office and in the field.

The successful candidate must have excellent sales and basic project management skills as well as strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate with internal parties to complete all related end-to-end membership/partner onboarding paperwork requirements for new issuing, acquiring members and Third Party Service Providers.
  2. Provide general administrative servicing for existing and new UnionPay Issuing and Acquiring member institutions.
  3. Assist Business Development teams to complete proposals, RFI/RFP using professional presentation skills.
  4. Coordinate with Business Development teams at HQ in Shanghai, local acquiring and regulatory entities to ensure all local merchants' locations in various Middle East markets have UnionPay's Cards acceptance coverage.
  5. Conduct acceptance quality checks at merchants' terminals, test and solve acceptance issues with merchants/acquirers/issuers.
  6. Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation progress update reports.
  7. Perform risk management to minimize project risks and report and escalate to management as needed.
  8. Develop and maintain filing systems to maintain sales agreements and records, prepare reports, and provide MIS reporting to assess the progress of the partnership agreements and local markets performances.
  9. Perform audit checks through merchants on-site visits to ensure member banks compliance to the project deliveries and management expectations.
  10. Work together with the product and operation team to ensure high-quality implementation of the project.
  11. Coordinate work between China head office and Middle East branch.
  12. Follow innovations in the market and sector and develop new business and products to enhance and grow UnionPay Business.
  13. KPI management and monitoring.

Primary Skills & Attributes

  1. Broad business acumen and understanding of financial services, preferably in the payment cards industry (cards issuing/e-Commerce/Wallets) arena.
  2. Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate benefits/problem-solving to various stakeholders.
  3. Strong administrative and time management skills, specific and results-oriented, and self-management driven.
  4. Strong communication skills (Fluency in English is important with good comprehension and ability to write with clarity).
  5. Strong computer literacy using Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
  6. Ability to work across geographies and flexibility to frequent travel when required, whereby 30% of the role will involve traveling within Middle East markets.
  7. Skill in preparing business reports and data analysis.

Qualifications

  1. Fluent English is mandatory; Mandarin or Arabic will be a bonus.
  2. Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  3. Up to 3 years of experience in the Payment Systems Sector in business development manager or project management roles in a payment scheme, card issuance business, bank, or payment company.
  4. Experience of working on incentive deals with payment schemes will be a bonus.
