Executive Search | Leadership Advisory | People AnalyticsWe are looking for a Managing Director to lead the country operations for a globally recognized manufacturer of advanced industrial drive solutions, serving multiple industries.
This role is primarily focused on driving sales growth while ensuring operational excellence, financial discipline, and superior customer satisfaction, all in alignment with the company's global vision and local market needs.
Reporting directly to the management team and divisional directors in Germany, the ideal candidate will be a very hands-on leader with exceptional commercial acumen and business development expertise. The role requires balancing sales expansion, key account management, operational efficiency, after-sales service, and overall financial performance to drive sustainable growth and market leadership.
Responsibilities:
1. Sales & Business Development- Drive and expand the sales of industrial drive solutions within the region.
- Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve revenue and profitability targets.
- Lead and support the sales team, ensuring performance optimization and professional development.
- Directly manage and develop relationships with key customers and OEMs with a hands-on approach.
- Develop and execute budget and sales forecasting, ensuring transparency and accountability.
- Monitor pricing strategies, margin analysis, and sales efficiency to maximize profitability.
- Ensure monthly reporting to global management is accurate and timely.
- Work closely with operations to align inventory planning with customer needs.
- Ensure timely reporting to the Company headquarters in Germany in line with the corporate standards.
- Introduce and position new products of the Company to the local market effectively.
- Oversee product lifecycle management, ensuring a smooth phase-out of discontinued products.
- Provide technical training to both internal teams and customers.
- Monitor regulatory compliance and collaborate with global product management.
- Oversee all financial operations, accounting, and cost control functions.
- Ensure strict budgeting, financial planning, and reporting in line with global requirements.
- Optimize cash flow, credit control, and financial risk management.
- Maintain compliance with local and international accounting standards.
- Manage the relationships with banks, auditors, and financial institutions.
- Ensure a high-performance customer service structure, focusing on client satisfaction and retention.
- Oversee assembly operations, ensuring productivity, flexibility, and quality.
- Implement strategies to streamline material management and optimize inventory.
- Drive efficiency and continuous improvement in service and after-sales operations.
- Manage inventory for gearbox parts and motors, ensuring accurate stock control, valuation, and stock-taking.
- Oversee stock and special parts disposition for gearbox assembly, managing resources and ensuring optimal parameter control.
- Lead talent acquisition, development, and performance management for all departments.
- Ensure employee engagement and retention, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Define training and skill development programs for employees.
- Maintain compliance with local labor laws, regulations and safety requirements.
- Ensure corporate governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
- Establish internal controls to safeguard assets and improve operational transparency.
- Lead business process improvements, identifying inefficiencies and driving solutions.
- Oversee SAP and ERP usage for financial reporting and material management.
- Implement and maintain CRM tools to optimize sales and customer service processes.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial); an MBA is a plus.
- 12+ years of experience mostly in B2B sales of industrial equipment, preferably with a background in industrial drive solutions, motion control, automation, or related industries.
- Proven expertise in managing multi-functional teams, including sales, finance, assembly, customer service, and operations.
- Strong background in P&L management, budgeting, financial planning, and cost control.
- Experience in leading key account management, and OEM relationships.
- Ability to develop and implement commercial strategies that drive revenue and margin growth.
- Experience in working with multinational companies, ensuring alignment with global business strategies.
- Knowledge of SAP and CRM systems.
- Familiarity with international trade regulations and supply chain management.
- Hands-on leader who can drive detailed daily task execution while maintaining a long-term vision.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills for high-level customer and stakeholder engagement.
- Results-driven, with a problem-solving mindset and ability to handle complex challenges.
- Proactive, resilient, and adaptable to a fast-paced, evolving business environment.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, including tact, discretion, and professionalism.
- Analytical and collaborative problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in written and verbal English communication is a must.
- Proficiency in written and verbal German is a strong plus.
